Advisory Council

Vegas Young Professionals is guided by an advisory council comprised of several community leaders who help guide the growth and direction of the organization. The council utilizes their unique strengths and influence in the community to build the VYP organization as a whole, bringing in top-notch speakers and ensuring the success of VYP on a program-by-program basis. The council is dedicated to expanding its efforts to reach more of the young professional demographic, increase community involvement and foster the business-building spirit within VYP membership.

Kelli Vaz - 2016 & 2017 Chair

Marketing Project Manager, Red Sky Blue Water

Kelli has a Bachelor's degree in Business Management coupled with more than fifteen years of exemplary operations management, account management and customer service experience across various industries. As a native of Las Vegas, Kelli is passionate about giving back to her community. She has been the Community Outreach Chair for Vegas Young Professionals for three years, organizing and attending committee meetings and volunteer projects to aid the Southern Nevada community. Kelli also volunteers her time to WBEC-West, one of 14 regional partners of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, by sitting on the Nevada Forum as Sr. Vice Chair. Most recently, Kelli was accepted into the Las Vegas Metro Chamber's Leadership Las Vegas program and will be part of the 2016 graduating class.

Derek Hutchison - Ambassador Chair

District Manager, ADP Small Business Services

Derek Hutchison moved to Las Vegas straight out of college after attending California State University, Chico & graduating Cum Laude in Hotel Management. After arriving in Las Vegas, Derek proceeded to work in hospitality for the next 5 years, eventually finding ADP in October of 2011. As soon as he joined the ADP team, he joined VYP. He saw immediate value in networking with young professionals and building his book of business that can service businesses with 1-10,000 employees. With over 400 small business clients in 20 states, he forms strategic partnerships with his all his clients by providing the best access to people and technology for their business. Outside the office, Derek enjoys snowboarding, anything involving a beach, destination travel, some golf, and investing in Las Vegas real estate.

Shay Palmore - Community Outreach Chair

Engineer, National Security Technologies

ShaLonda “Shay” Palmore is an Engineer at National Security Technologies, where she works in Energy Management reporting clean energy and sustainability. Shay graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in 2010. She is also a math tutor at Nevada Homes for Youth; a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing substance abuse treatment programs, support and education for disadvantaged youth of Southern Nevada struggling with addiction. In her spare time, Shay enjoys spending time with friends, family, her two American bulldogs Maximus and Zoey, cooking and watching sports.

Jonathan Via – Community Outreach Co-Chair

Business Banking Officer, Nevada State Bank

As a Business Banking Officer with Nevada State Bank, Jonathan Via (NMLS# 682509) reaches out to Southern Nevada businesses to explain how the Bank's products and services can benefit their companies. Prior to joining the Bank, Jonathan spent ten years in banking in the unique Southern Nevada market, including both personal and business banking, new account administration, personal and commercial lines of credit, and commercial loans. Jonathan enjoys participating in community efforts, and has served on the Advisory Committee as the Community Outreach Committee Co-Chair since 2016. Jonathan served as a Henderson Chamber Ambassador from 2015 to January 2017, and is a proud 19-year resident of Henderson.

Bobby Misko – EYP Outreach Chair

Associate Partner, Bongiovi Law Firm

Bobby was born and raised in Las Vegas and is happy to still call Las Vegas home. He attended Bishop Gorman and UNLV and in 2012, he earned a J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA. Bobby's professional passion has always been real estate. As such, he has a diverse real estate background. From 2004-2010, he worked in several capacities for Nevada Title Company, finally settling in the marketing department. At Bongiovi Law Firm, in conjunction with serving as general counsel for business clients, Bobby focus on real estate needs with an emphasis on commercial leases. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada and all Nevada state courts. When he's not shaping young leaders in VYP's Emerging Young Professionals Outreach Committee, Bobby enjoys cooking, following UNLV basketball and attempting to play golf.

Chad Kaercher – EYP Outreach Co-Chair

Chad Kaercher is a third-generation Las Vegan representing one of the oldest insurance firms in the valley, Kaercher Insurance. After attending the Meadows School and Faith Lutheran Sr. High School he pursued his BA in Political Science and Economics at the University of Colorado Boulder. Kaercher Insurance has been involved with the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce for nearly 50 years offering risk management and innovative solutions that transcends simply buying insurance. As the millennial generation begins to expand into the business economy of Las Vegas, Chad is excited to represent the future generations of Las Vegas as EYP Outreach Co-Chair of VYP. In his spare time, Chad enjoys skiing and spending time with his friends.

Kelly Peterson – Events Chair

Wealth Advisor Associate, Morgan Stanley

Kelly works closely with select clients to develop and implement investment strategies, prepare for major life events, and provide comprehensive financial advice. Kelly moved to Las Vegas in 2003, and he and his family have adopted the desert as their family’s home. He is currently serving on the events committee for VYP, helping to organize and plan the Bigwig Lunch Times and Biz 101 panel discussions. Kelly joined VYP to get to know new people, and to find new ways to become involved in the community he has grown to love.

Matthew Lindsey - Marketing Chair

President, CEO & Ecopreneur VerdeClean

Matthew Lindsey has a deep passion for serving the community as a volunteer for various local philanthropic causes, including the Business Outreach Workforce Development program, where he helps local businesses increase their ability to compete in contracting opportunities. He routinely lends his business leadership and experience to entrepreneurs and business leaders through one-on-one mentorship, classroom instruction and community outreach. Lindsey is also actively involved with the Asylee Refugee Migrant Assistance Network as well as the Jericho Project, where he speaks to school-age children and teenagers on social and emotional topics such as character building, bullying, self-esteem and forgiveness. When he's not posting on Instagram or posting the latest VYP blog, Matt enjoys studying and enjoying wines of the world, astronomy, cycling and reading inspirational texts.

James Pfeiffer - VYP Toastmasters President

James Pfeiffer CC, ALB

James Pfeiffer CC, ALB is the president of VYP Toastmasters. James originally comes from Hamden, Connecticut and has been a Las Vegas resident since June 2012. His organizational prowess stems from his performance as an insurance broker for a New Jersey based firm, Turner Surety & Insurance Brokerage, Inc. James signed up for VYP Toastmasters for two reasons; first, a fun activity to pursue with his wife, Priscilla, and second, to develop his meeting, presentation, and negotiation skills. When he's not working on improving his public speaking skills, James is cooking and showing off his black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
